What guild to join??

It would help new players immensely if they could see the monthly plunder rankings of all of the guilds just like those who belong to guilds can see that list.

As it is now guilds are listed from level 50 on down--even level 50 guilds that are totally dead and have been forever.

New players have no idea what guilds are alive and active and send off notes asking to join guilds that have been dead for a year(s).

This is not encouraging to a newbie and they leave.

Part of the game involves guild membership because without it, it is really difficult to learn the game.

Allow everyone to see the guild plunder rankings list whether or not that player is in a guild.

 

It is a good idea as there is no harm in showing the plunder point list to guild less players.

now a guildless player knows nothing about the guild
in eu4 the majority of level 50 are inactive well hell we are left with 15 guilds that play islands any more

now a player any way is to join the first guild possible
then he can see the guilds
and then he can try to get in one of the guilds that are playing

even if a player do not expect to go to a level 50 guild right away
it will be good for him to be in a small guild that could actually build something in the guild workshop

Best way to check if a guild is active is by it's attack ranking to other guilds. No new player is going to benefit from a guild that exists, but has players in it that do nothing because those guilds are almost dead. I did belong to such a guild for awhile--it was not only frustrating but I learned nothing. I left that guild and rejoined my original guild of over 2 years ago that had died, but was a level 50 and several of us got back together to refloat it. We are actively recruiting members and we do that by keeping our rank on the list up to at least the top 10-12.

The guild attack ranking can be helpful for lower level guilds (5-40) in getting recruits as long as those guilds are actively attacking other guilds. They will stay in the top twenty on all servers. If a new player cannot see this list then the point is moot and they will go away thinking there are no active guilds on yet another PS server.
