I've been playing the game for about 6 months now. Wanted to quit several times, but kept with it and still enjoy the game on and off. The community is one of the best I have seen and is definitely a redeeming factor.

What I have observed are several things that I think are costing the game players and creating frustration for the rest. I'm sure they have been mentioned before, but revisiting this stuff is always good, especially if BP will take notice and resolve them:

    1. Chaining - while I know getting sunk is part of the game and I have no problem being sunk as players try to get pvp / skulls, repeatedly sinking players just because you can is really infantile and is no different than any other bully. Instead of punishing the victim by forcing them to do something else instead of the quest / task they were doing is identical to telling the victim of a bully in a school to avoid the bully and go to the bathroom at different times, walk home later, etc. That response would not be acceptable to parents of the victim, and should not be acceptable here. We all know certain players who thrive on this behavior, and it would be beneficial to the game and the players if BP actually did something about it. we all know chat bans or game bans happen for more simple things, so why not for behavior that causes the loss of players?

    2. Inventory Control - with all the upgrades we can do in the workshop and the various iterations of launchers and cannons, managing them becomes quite frustrating. It would be great if we could sell off or convert such useless items into more useful things. For instance, I have no purpose for the 488 -10 pounder guns i have, and I'm stuck with them. Why can't I use the workshop to convert them to iron cannonballs or sell them for 10K gold each? Heck - I can't even use them as anchors and all they do is clutter up my inventory.

    3. Lunar Steel - can we please have a weekly quest or something that provides this material? Seriously, you guys treat it worse than Capt. Bligh dolling out the rum ration. I know it needs to be controlled because it is a special item for upgrading good guns and launchers but there are so few ways to get it that something else needs to be added so we can build it up, even if it was slowly.

    4. Dive and Map Rewards - again, let's visit what a waste of a dive or time in a map becomes when we end up getting a 10 pound gun that we will never use and with which we can doing nothing. After level 20 or so I doubt anyone has use for them so why are players at the highest levels still getting these crappy things? As recommended in #2, please give us something other than this or give us a way to actually do something with them. I'd be happy either way, but the status quo is crap.

That's it. Just some simple observations and ideas on how to fix them.

i agree with everything except the chaining, i think that sinking multiple times is just a part of the game. Some other pirate games that i have played before actually reward you with essintially pvp points for every sink you get no matter how many times you kill them, it worked well there and made for some fun pvping! however i dont think that it would benefit this game unless it was in a special BG or something and not on normal open water. But on the rest of it its all stuff that needs to be fixed!

I agree on inventory an lunar steel we should beable to convert useless items in to more material and on dives higher players the diver should adapt to ya lvl or sell items to get some gold or diamonds or trade to vender for cannon balls or something better or trade with other players an barter. And fix the hot bars so we don't drag item off able to lock in place and make more hot bars for diff sets for all situations. Why not as diver converts to allow the bonus map that gives lunar steel beable to dive for more pieces perhaps ? If no quests and or if make a quest we can do weekly or daily the chaining can already b countered with the limited pvp zones

    Re: Chaining

Several Years ago I quit playing Seafight because of the chaining problem. At that time there were no safe harbors, only safe maps. When you paid out to restore HP you reapeared in the same place on the map where you had just been sunk. So the ship sinkng you was still there waiting to sink you again! What is more when your HP got low you were forced to a very slow max speed until you got your strength back up ( a real Catch 22 )

At least with P-Storm you can retreat to the harbor to complete your repairs without remainng exposed.

The net of this is that it is an annoyance but not a game killer. Use the chat to rally support of other pirates against the bullies. Join a guild and get their support.

If you get caught "in a corner" by a bully, play without buffs for a while so you do not waste as much of what you have earned. Set sail with minimal repairs so you can "harvest" more than you spend on repairs.

Use the free silent running out of the harbor to get to another map and come back to your quest later (The quest will wait patiently a long time for you to complete it whenever you get the chance.)

This is how the game works. Think of tactics and strategies to overcome the obstacles and enjoy the challenges.

I have not gone back to Seafight, even though it is still there. I do not know or care if BP has addressed the problems I saw there. Pirate Storm is structured in a way that is much improved as far as I am concerned. When I find a realy tough problem I try to find a solution rather than telling someone else to fix it so I can win more easily.

  6. Agree with all except the chaining part. Everything else sounds good.
