now in the game is not so much of a ship as rather building your account
1.there is the aspect of the game called seals.
having them can make your account thus any ship you have to become stronger

2.the improvements in the ship can give your ship more hit points and other bonuses as shoot faster
unfortunately to get them you need to make a full year cycle to find the appropriate events

    3. the cannons you need to get full bombastic

    4. bloods the use of bloods will give you temporally ,ore life

    5. yes last in the list is actually the ship
if you do not finish the above it does not matter if you have a dow you will be killed even by a sloop

this is an mmorg not a shoot um up
it is a long game that focus on leveling up, gathering resources, so start palying the game and you only need lots of time

  3. Ha, let me answer too:

"Normal" depends on what you are using a ship for and where you go. A strong ship for arena and Battlegrounds may not be suitable for open sea, farming or plunders.
Basically, do these things and any ship you wind up with will be the strongest it can be.

    1) "Farm" in the zones that you can sink/kill NPCs with one or two shots. You will use less ammo than the higher zones, and, you can do them very quickly--actually covering more exp points than if you only did the absolute highest zones but used much more time and ammo to sink them. Use scrolls and marquis letters if you are in a guild. You do this to collect exp points and go up in game rank and get more gold. As you go up in rank, always update your "Captain's Orders" (see below) and use the captains orders for both NPC and pvp.

    2) Gold has a number of uses in this game--you can actually buy useful items with gold that you can not get from diamonds in the various house BGs for instance. The more you farm the more gold you will collect. When it is slow and thre aren't any events, that is a good time to collect gold. Gold is also one of the requirements to upgrade bombastic cannons.

    3) The more you farm, the more free dives you will get. Fill up all of your "puzzle" maps but do not do one until you get to the VooDoo map--it offers everything that the others do, but more of it and you will get at least 5 bombastic cannons each time you complete it. Only do the VooDoo map--then all of the puzzle pieces you get in the dives will populate it faster.

    4) Always look for other players to hit--you will go up in the levels for this too and most ships will give you skulls. skulls can be used to buy or on some ships (as in the piranha) for decks and bulkheads as well as skulls buy large warriors which are the fastest cannons to upgrade. The piranha is one of the most versatile and useful ships in the game--and can be developed into a really good ship.

    5) Use your seals wisely. You can upgrade the seals and get more cannons and harpoon launchers, more defense and stronger attacks as well as a longer distance that your cannons and harpoons will reach--always helps to be out of the range of your enemy while you are hitting them.

    6) Do the achievements---its hard to get the entire achievement completed but the levels of each requirement (as in "Light fuse stand clear" levels 1-10) can be done faster and will give you items that will help.

    7) Join an active, top ten guild on your server if you can. Even the lower guilds can teach you tricks of the game, but a high level guild in the top ten will also get you a guild deck for your main ship(s). I don't know your level but a nice beginning ship would be the paladin which is the other main prize for top ten guild ranking. This game has no instructions--you learn it from other players in your guild or from reading these forums, or from experimenting what works and what doesn't when you play. Your guild will also have other players that you can form a 2v2 arena team---a prize for that is the gladiator which is a good ship that can be developed and will keep you competitive with most other ships.

    8) SAVE DIAMONDS. Do not buy mahogany decks. Beech is fine until you get your battleground/house decks which are indestructible. Do not buy steel ammo then use it to farm, LOL---some do because they want to hit higher level monsters or NPCs but they are better off developing their ships, captain orders, scrolls and cannons and using stone or iron ammo. There is very little difference between steel and iron.

    9) If you are a new player and have not done them--do your daily lessons. That will get you gold and some diamonds/items that will come in handy.

    10) do the port wars if you happen upon one--they are great for getting skulls even for a newer player because it all comes down to who was the last one to hit and sink a ship. Remember skulls buy interesting and useful items.

    11) Also, Pirate Storm rotates events on a fairly consistent schedule. Every month there will be a storm deck available at the beginning of the month--it is not indestructible but it is close [IMG]. you will probably have to buy it every month because it is only good for like 220 sinkings, but, many do buy it monthly. It also gives more cannons than the permanent event deck that fits that slot. Battle grounds are about every couple of weeks, the various houses are rotated. There are other events that give special ships, some at a discount if you play the maps associated with them. they say these ships can be "free" when you play so many of the maps, but, the maps usually require special ammo so not really free. Favored event ships for strength are one of the frost ships, the dragon ship are the two main ones that are strongest. Events also offer event sets that can be added to ships--there is a post in forums about those sets you should read. There is also an event for the ahab ship--I recommend getting that ship. You don't get/give skulls with it but it is really good for farming, playing maps and a good ship for plunders as well.

Ok, I yak too much--anyone else got a suggestion for him?

  4. Well, it does take a year at least to develop your ship/account, but it is a lot of fun getting to that point as well. First ship to start with should be a war brigantine as soon as you can buy it--then either a dhuka, devastator or a piranha. Which one depends on how many other players (and potential skulls) are on your server. If you are not on euro1, Latin or euro4, you should consider changing your server and starting again.

dhuka is usually good for the protected zones but in open skull, pvp zones you will be better off in the piranha or devastator. From the either of them, I'd get either an event ship like one of the frost ships, or a dragon ship. If not an event ship, get into a 2v2 group and earn your gladiator.

All the time you are using these ships you are updating your captains orders and seals. Most people who play higher levels have at least one event ship, a piranha or devastator, and an ahab. Some have Destroyer of Worlds but there are many more DoWs than there should be...:p
