Question about game mechanics

I just started this game about 2 week ago and really enjoy it. However, I am still not able to claim the confirm email reward even though I have tried the request another link to be sent to my email account. Also, I have just purchased a Cordone with 5.5 initial speed and added Linen sails - 7.7 speed and Battle Keel - .7 speed. with all that calculated I should be sailing at 13.9/14 knots but I am only getting 13.3.

First the Battle Keel give you update to your max speed not your actual speed soo it is normal to have 13.3.To impruve your speed you must buy a new better sail like some of the event sail.

With regards to your email confirmation have you checked to see if it was placed in your spam/junk folder of your email?

Houdini is correct. The Battle Keel does not affect the current moving speed of your ship. The description says it affects the Max Speed. The Max speed is the maximum potential speed you can attain using other items (such as sails). The current speed can be up to or equal to the Max speed cap.
