FAQ New Sail System

I don’t have maximum speed. How do I get maximum speed?
No, at the moment, you cannot gain maximum speed.

I had diamond sails. Why did I only get gold as compensation?
Short answer:
You got the new sail packages on all your ships of which 2 are diamond packages. If you had more diamond sails you got other diamond items as compensation.

Long answer:
We calculated the diamond and gold costs of all your mast-slots and sails you had on your ships and in stock.
The diamond and gold amount was saved - let's call this your credit balance.
Afterwards we equipped all your ships with the fitting sail package.
The cost for them was deducted from your credit balance.
If the costs exceeded your balance, we gifted the discrepancy to you.
If there was gold left in your credit balance we rebooked it to your account (this is where the gold comes from).
If there were diamonds left after paying for the sail packages we converted them as follows:

Example:
Let’s assume you only got a Large Frigate. The Large Frigate had 7 mast-slots of which 6 had to be bought by you (one was already unlocked). This means 6x 5000 gold = 30.000 gold for your credit balance. You had it fully equipped with diamond sails and the small gold sail on top:
1x small gold sail = 1500 gold
2x medium diamond sail x 500 diamonds = 1000 diamonds
5x large diamond sail x 1000 diamonds = 5000 diamonds
Your credit balance is now:
31.500 gold
6000 diamonds

Now we give you the best sail package for your ship, which costs 6000 diamonds (yes, it’s on purpose that it costs exactly the same). This item was not shown on your refund layer – that was a mistake we will avoid in the future!
Your credit balance is now:
31.500 gold
0 diamonds

The refund layer that you got after login stated:
“We have simplified the sail system. Look for your new sail packages in your ship improvements!
As compensation for your spare sails you have received:
31.500 gold
The new sail packages are now improvements, and can be found in the shop!”

If you had e.g. another large diamond sail in stock (worth 1000 diamonds), we gave you items according to the table above.

So you spend 50 of your 1000 diamonds for Continental Breakers, 950 are still left. These 950 are now divided between the following items

What is this new sail system? Can I use more than one sails package?
The new sails are improvements and work like bulkheads and decks. They can be found under the improvements tab in the shop.

No, you can only use one sails package. Every sails package can be put on every ship, but this does not always make sense. In some cases, the sails would give a higher speed boost than the ship would need to gain its maximum speed.

Why did you come up with this change?
The old sail system and sails worked totally different to all other items in the game. We found out, that the old system is not easily understood for new players. The new system works like all other improvements and new players only have to learn one instead of two systems. Furthermore the code for the sails was different from all other items, which we wanted to “correct”.

Will there be a storm sail on Storm Day?
No, that is not planned.

When did I get ammunition? Which kind of ammunition did I receive?
You received ammunition the moment you received the layer, which stated that you got some ammunition or not. The ammunition types you could have received were: Continental Breakers, Steel Cannonballs and Steel Harpoons. If nothing was displayed on the refund layer, you did not receive anything.
