I just entered the Thunderball Battleground. I was admitted several minutes after the battle began. I was put on a team that only had 2 other players, where the opposing team had 7 players. The strength of the players was just as out of balance as the quantity. Total points scored was ~8 million vs 1.6 million.

Something is very flawed in the current algorithms for how the players joining the battlefield are assigned to teams.

If you were admitted to it after it started as you say, then the others who were on the team left. This allowed you into the game. It is part of the battleground that if someone leaves, then next in que will be given the option to join. This happens all the time if people get in and find that there is no way for them to win, they simply leave rather then stay in and take the 1 coin they can get.

I was under the impression that if you did not stay to the end of the battle, you would forfeit the coins you might have won.

  4. Not sure on Thunderball, but if you leave Death Jaunt when you get sunk you get your coins but do not get credit for the battleground achievement.
But for whatever reason people do leave the game. So if you are offered to join in the middle of a game you will probably come in as a member of a weak/losing team.
