What are Dubloons used for?

I have been getting dubloons and fulfilling the quests for them, but what are they used for? I don't seem to be able to spend them anywhere.

 

dubs are used for the new moon raffle before u hit the water u will see new moon raffle each doub = 1000 diamonds if you win the raffle

Most of it really. I am very new to the game and have not worked out how most of it works yet. In particular, the symbols (centre bottom) on the screen. I don't know what they do or how to use them. For that matter, I don't know which ones I have available either!

 

I believe your referring to the Captain Orders, these are items/buffs you can use over and over again, some of these make you hit harder and faster, others repair you a little and others can be used on players to either make them slow down, hit less and make them take more damage and much more.
